Dude another season Closer
2025-6 Season Closer
Last week this dude kept it short, so I feel I have liberties to exploit. Not like that, those I try to keep tidy, and anyway we don’t talk about our special lady friend(s). It isn’t often I start off off track, but anyway. Would you consider a rag-tag bunch of family and friends willing to rock up, for foul weather, mangled pitches, and questionable omnipotent overlords, just for a chance to voluntarily attempt to overcome unnecessary obstacles? I would.
Whatever the niggle, crack, bruise or blessings, this lot is ready for a simple short pass, a return ball, a supporting run. We collapse on defence when we lose possession and expand outward like a ripple on a pond when gained. Even better if we are first on the 50/50 and direct the first pass where we want it.
“Like we meant it” is how we need to score: put those passes together, make the ball work hard, easy, clean pass and like an MF master, tuck one in goal. It is declarative because I have seen enough of you do it. The plunderer can make a good touch and an easy pass; the dude will make a supporting run; you lot make that last pass in the box for a calm finish.
Take a few speculative balls down the pitch, hell, shoot from outside, but you must follow on; don’t waste energy on speculation when possession destroys the opposition's spirit.
This worthy adversary is a struggle in the “No Drama” department; ignore them, play fair and firm (that’s what she said), and they will quickly turn on each other and own their own drama. We do not have an appointed omnipotent overloaded so help o ur whoever pulls duty, and if it is there, for heaven's sake split the halves or bless G if he is willing.
I am riled up after missing the final three weeks and the return of B Banger, but I will be at the speedway, and I will bring my kit. Why am I bothered? It isn’t the weather, the game or the effort; it is the flow. Easy + No drama = flow. Those 90 min with you lot are fast and fun when we strive and push; they just disappear, and here is the steady place I produce that feeling.
