Doc Dude Dad

Dude, I hope they pay taxes too.

Epicurus was not a fan of families, 2300 years ago you buried children and wives more often and 70 years was extremely long life. Families in his mind were a source of intense pain. The family I was born into brought both fortune and damnation with it. Epicurus expounded that families were also a huge source of desire, aspiration and worldly ambition. The family I am striving to create is the best I can imagine and we stress to balance diets, sports, games, shelter and experiences to prepare them for this rocky unpredictable thing called life. My nurses hated it when they asked me about what my children would do in the future would they be doctors and I would reply “I just hope they pay taxes.” If you pay taxes is meant to me they were contributing to society. A net positive, I complain but I am

Glad I pay taxes.

Epicurus esteemed friendship, someone to roll with, to answer in times of need, and be present when the world seemed horrible. Close friends they choose to look after each other to reach out when times are tough.
