Dude, philosophical football

Wax philosophical about our voluntary attempt at overcoming unnecessary obstacles this fine afternoon. The time we spend positioning, moving, probing, waiting, running back, collapsing, herding, shepherding those without the touch of the ball they are the ones that support, create space, spread the opponent and even though we lack possession and appear out of the game the threat, the opportunity, and the easy ball those 1-2 or 5 passes that exploit the space those are where we find glory.

This opponent is a worthy adversary; we had only a few lapses, missed touches, and they found glory. We have an omnipotent overlord this week; hell, we have needed good ones in the past for this contest. This dude had his feathers ruffled, his eye dotted; other plunderers were cleaned out, noses bloodied and no interventions. No drama; the paperwork alone should discourage you. I find that when I come up battered, it is because my positioning was good. I just need to assume the worthy adversary had no ill will and tell him sternly to be on time and bring a fair challenge; I enjoy the contact, just not the cheap late stuff. That worked against Woodville; they cleaned up the late stuff after chastising a few about it in the second half (not all of it, but hey, that’s what the beers are for).

Or if we do the little stuff well the 1-2, quick pass, defensive work and no drama then those 90 min shrink to moments, memories and feelings. I long for the effort, the struggle, the enduring worth suffering for; the passion we find for sport is because it allows a decided place to struggle and jockey, then pour back a cold beverage and pontificate about should’ve, could’ve, would’ve or bask in the bounce that went our way.

Te Wero

Easy+No Drama = Flow

Suffer for the little stuff; do not wait for the chance; work for the moments.
