Dude, so visualize a rubber band...
I am setting out a peg board in front of each of you. You can put as many pegs in it as you want but you only get one rubber band to stretch around them all. If those edges are tight there is a chance the band snaps. If you put a few pegs close to the middle the bad will not even stand up it will just be rolled over by the lightest marble or soft ball. Set the pegs with a little tension and the band will be responsive, malleable and capable of reviving a stimulus and sending back out with speed and direction.
This band and pegs is us our ability to stand firm with our integrity, around our family for each other and weather any stimulus or plight. We need a set of principles compassion, humility and moderation that can be guideposts we will not sacrifice to support our characters like resilience, consideration and determination.
What makes a good moment or a bad one is not the moment it can be sad shitty or horrific but we can treat it with compassion, humility or moderation and weigh our response. The same goes for the good times, the can be fun, fast or a laugh and the experience, the people and the memories are the key. Even really good times get incorporated into our band and they don’t move the needle we do. We are crap at know what makes us happy or improves life it is the little stuff done well repeatedly that denies us. Good friends, loving family and food and shelter the rest is mostly flavour and experiences.
The crazy part is our rubber band is a muscle a memory a neuronal pathway we can build up and master. Same as reps of and exercise or short passing drills we can build the band, strengthen the responses.
Moderation for prosperity, humility for cooperation and compassion for courage. These old pillars give us guideposts to do hard things and help others learn to have more play more energy to wield for consideration of our problems or joys.
Anyway take er easy out there, short crisp passes make the other guy work hard, we band together work for each other short passes right back for the win.
