Dude, what is a he ro?
MPFC 2024 Cup game to play but bad shit happened the prior week.
People die it hurts for the people they leave behind. I don't mean to be horrific but don't read on if you don't want to know what I feel and how I show up after the death of friends.
Out west well the west coast of the north island on the bottom of the world hell it ain’t even on every map (ffs its geography why doesn’t anybody know where Palmie is get a fing map, the coast is close the beaches are sandy and long, wft dude you are unhinged move along, it’s been a long week, long week ffs a bad year, damn you went there, what did you expect? 2 ryes on Tuesday you expect me to hold it together? ffs get on with it alright, you just dialogued yourself your gonna get turned into the mental health team if you keep this up, fuck that was low edit that out, F.O. it all hurts, fair).
Out west there was a fella. His handle was “mate”, or “friend” at least that’s what the Plunderers called him, he never had much use for it himself. He answered to dude, “the dude” wasn’t a name most would self-apply. There is a lot about the dude that didn’t make much sense. In the Manawatu, he was roaming football pitches kicken’ it. He wasn’t the fastest, he seemed to move some and yell a lot but he tried. He never had link up play with greats or knocked the long ball to superstars or saw the Dame in her undies but he’s seen some shit… He seemed to be in the right place, at the right time it wasn’t always good (cover the defence block a shot into his own mitt and give up a late PK F.O.), at times it was hell but he kept showing up. Not much phased him, he didn’t like it he raged at times but quickly resumed one foot in front of the other.
Some may call him a he — ro but mostly he hopes to be present. Just aware of the current moment. In that tiny space where stimulus noxious, joyous, tragic any stimulus gives him a pause to be. There the dude can do nothing, love, commiserate, show horror or just show up on the good days or bad ones. He can respond, he is able or he can just be.
